(CMR) Local social media personality and podcast host, Mario Rankin, has sustained serious head injuries and was placed on the Intensive Care Unit awaiting medical treatment for what is believed to be serious neurological injuries sustained after a fall at his Newlands residence Wednesday afternoon.

CMR sources shared that Rankin initially was conscious but had sustained facial and head injuries including an apparent concussion and bleeding from his ear shortly after the accident occurred around 1:30pm. EMT employees attended the scene and transported him to the emergency room where eyewitnesses shared he was incoherent at the time and appeared to have no recollection of the fall.
Reports are that he was at home with several of his children who contacted 911 after hearing the crash. It appears that he fell from a second story loft inside of the home where he was doing some air conditioning work. Soon it became obvious that his injuries were more severe and he required not only hospitalization but admittance to the ICU with brain swelling. He was placed under sedation during the night.
On Thursday morning Rankin was to be brought out of his sedated state so that further testing could be carried out to determine what further treatments would be required. Thursday morning hospital security has been informed to not allow any visitors to his ICU room or accept any packages or delivery items from anyone.
Rankin is seen as a controversial figure who recently started an online podcast where he has been supportive of the anti-vaccination movement. He has also a member of the CPR group that advocated for a referendum against the building of a proposed George Town port and cruise birthing facility. Rankin has previously dabbled in the heavy equipment, restaurant and development business.
The disqualified 2017 Independent political candidate now holds a business license as a consultant which was obtained in early 2021. He hosts an online social media based talk program that provides largely political commentary.
