(CMR) A 26-year-old Guatemalan man was taken into custody on the tarmac of Miami International Airport after arriving in Miami Saturday morning by hiding inside the landing gear of an American Airlines flight. The man was discovered after AA flight 1182 arrived at the gate around 10 a.m. after the two and a half hour flight.
78% of people who have tried this since 1947 have died.
A video was posted on social media after a maintenance worker took the footage.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers took the man into custody after he spent the trip in the landing gear compartment of the aircraft arriving from Guatemala. He was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for medical assessment.
American Airlines said in a statement that flight 1182 from Guatemala to Miami was met by law enforcement due to a “security issue” on Saturday at 10:06 a.m.
American Airlines is working with law enforcement while it investigates.
Guatemala is the one of the main sources of undocumented migrants entering the United States over the south border because of increasing government corruption, poverty and violence. They accounted for the highest number of undocumented migrants in 2019. However, in 2021 Mexico, Honduras and then Guatemala are in the top 3 spots according to Pew Research Center.
