(CMR) Parents at Red Bay Primary School are complaining that a change in the morning drop-off times has significantly inconvenienced them. School administrators have locked the entrance gates and are no longer allowing parents to drop off children before 7:30 am.
In the past, parents were permitted to drop their primary-aged children off between 7:10-7:15 am and several schools teachers or administrators were on hand to supervise. They were permitted to wait under the cabana, but now they will have to use the entrance in front of the Mary Miller Hall.
Parents have reached out to CMR complaining that this means they are not able to get to work on time and as a result of the delay now have to compete with morning traffic “at the worse possible time.”
For their part, the school shared an email stating that the gates will not be open until 7:30 am “to ensure the safety and security of all our children.” If parents arrive before then they are instructed that they will have to wait with the children until the gates open.
One parent shared:
“They are throwing parents into the meat of traffic”.
George Town Primary School has had the drop-off times at 7:30 am in place during the last academic year and so did Joanna Clark Primary, Theoline McCoy Primary, East End Primary and Edna Moyle Primary as well.
