(CMR) Our tips hotline has been receiving multiple reports of a man who was injured by a gunshot late Sunday night in the vicinity of Vick's Bar on Seymour Road/Dump Road. CMR understands that Roger Wood, Jr. (26) was shot in the left thigh by a gun and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
CMR sources shared it was an argument over a female.
Additional reports are that there have been a number of firearm-related incidents recently that remain unreported by official sources including another gun found last week. Sources also allege that drug busts are also occurring with greater frequency sharing:
“One girl got caught with 150 something pounds in the car and a man got catch with 40 something pounds by his house you don't hear bout these things. It's been a lot of shootings and you don't hear the police speak out that's why when you tell them you going to Marlroad they don't want the people to call you”.
After CMR inquired about the latest shooting incident the police confirmed a shooting took place early Monday morning shortly after midnight when they received a phone call from the Cayman Islands Hospital shortly before 12:40 a.m. They were treating Wood for a gunshot wound. Police did not specify much more about his injuries but CMR understands he was shot in the foot.
They did conclude after further investigations, a shooting incident took place in the area of Seymour Road in George Town. Officers from the Firearms Response Unit responded to that location and made checks in the area.
During a search of the areas where it was suspected the incident took place, a large number of people were found gathered but no information of significance was found. Detectives are appealing to the public for any witnesses with information pertaining to this incident to come forward.
