(CMR) The child who was among 13 migrants who fled the Cayman Islands was brought back to shore this evening.
The child fell ill aboard the Bulk Freedom as the migrants put up resistance to leave the vessel, which brought them back to the Cayman Islands after they were found drifting at sea.
Her parents were also brought to shore after what CMR learned was a struggle between the authorities and the child's father.
Multiple police vehicles remain at the Royal Watler Port location as the extraction efforts for the remaining persons continue.
CMR has been informed that the applications for asylum for the other 10 migrants on the ship were reviewed following the relevant laws and protocols and have been denied.
They have been found to not be political refugees but are in search of better economic conditions.
