(CMR) A serving RCIPS police, PC 335, has been reprimanded after the Professional Standards Unit (PSU) launched an official investigation into a photograph that was circulating depicting the officer in uniform with a handgun to her head.
The photograph was brought to the attention of the RCIPS management in late August 2020 by “a concerned member of the community.”
The PSU conducted a full investigation and submitted a report in mid-October on the matter. During the course of their investigation, they interviewed the officer involved and she shared that whilst stationed in the eastern district some time ago she found a plastic gun in a drawer and took a selfie which was then circulated on social media. The plastic gun was located per her statement.
She has since been formally cautioned “that her behavior was wholly inappropriate as a serving police officer and warned that she must adhere to the highest ethical, personal and professional standards at all times both on and off duty.” The police will not be taking any further action against her.
