(CMR) An incident in which three people were stabbed to death in a church in Nice, France is being called an “Islamist terrorist attack” by French President Emmanuel Macron.
The incident which resulted in two women and one man losing their lives, occurred inside the Notre-Dame basilica.
While details surrounding the incident are limited, a former Member of Parliament, Mayor Christian Estrosi confirmed the incident noting that the suspect was in police custody.
A suspect was shot by police but survived and has been taken into custody, the mayor said.
Like President Macron, the mayor said “Everything points” to the incident being terrorism-related.
