(CMR) A.L. Thompson's has confirmed that unlike many other retailers re-opening they did not permit anyone to return to work unless their test results were already in. Cayman's largest hardware retailer began testing their staff on May 14, five days before re-opening to the public and confirmed earlier tonight they have two positive test results thus far.
They disclosed that they had been servicing the public with a reduced workforce because they had decided to now allow anyone back to work unless their test results had been received from the Health Services Authority. Now with 95% of the results from their 187 employees two individuals have tested positive for the coronavirus. Both are asymptomatic and are now isolating at home in keeping with the HSA strict guidelines.
A.L. Thompson's shared that they will be receiving their full pay and benefits during the mandatory isolation period.
They also confirm all of the measures they have implemented in order to ensure the public's safety before reopening their stores and improving them as they move forward. The Savannah location has not yet reopened to the public as they continue to implement these measures at that location.
