(CMR) Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his fiancee Carrie Symonds on Wednesday (April 29) announced the birth of their first child.
A spokesperson for the couple said that the child, a baby boy, was born at a London hospital.
The spokesperson further revealed that the mother and baby are “doing well”.
The 55-year-old PM, who recently recovered from the deadly coronavirus, was said to be present throughout the birth, at an NHS hospital in London.
Congratulatory messages have been flowing for the couple, with the Australian prime minister Scott Morrison and Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe among the first international leaders to offer their kind messages.
Similarly, figures from across the British political spectrum have also offered their congratulations.
55-year-old Johnson and his fiancée 32-year-old Carrie Symonds are the first unmarried couple to move into Downing Street together.
The couple announced in February 2020 that they were engaged to be married.
Johnson has four children from a previous marriage to top-tier barrister Marina Wheeler.
