VIDEO: New Years Eve attack at Ultra Lounge sparks outrage as no arrest made yet

(CMR) A video has surfaced on social media of a man who was assaulted on December 31 at Ultra Lounge on Smith Road by a Jamaican man named Adrian Dawkins aka Gigga Famous. Numerous persons contacted CMR with the video footage this morning erroneously believing the incident happened last night.

Famous is said to be a regular figure on the local dancehall scene in the Cayman Islands.

Several men were initially involved in the fight which people claimed was provoked because of “bad-mindedness and jealousy” and the assailant was said to have bragged on previous occasions that he was waiting to see him out.

The victim arrived at Ultra Lounge and was waiting to be checked by security when Famous walked in and “purposely bounced him.” The victim is said to have pushed him back and the fight ensued from there. The video actually caught the tail-end of the fight after the victim had attempted to leave. Once he realized that he did not have the car keys he is said to have started briskly walking towards Pasadora Place to go to a friend's house.

After the victim lost his keys, phone and wallet he went back to locate his car keys so that he could leave and was accosted by Famous again; who at this point had gone to his car to retrieve the machete. Police arrived at the scene of the incident afterward but were not able to make any headway at the location with eyewitnesses.

However, exclusive CMR sources indicate that the victim reported the incident that same night to the police and that he sustained some injuries from the machete slaps including bruises and abrasions. His shirt was also ripped off of him.

Eyewitnesses said that the unprovoked attack came about as a result of Famous trying to be a “bad man inna the streets”. The police are apparently still dealing with the matter but no arrests have yet to be made.

According to people familiar with the party, this is the third incident involving Famous in the past few months. One person shared:

“Famous always trying to hype himself around Cayman because he's married to a Caymanian who allows him to run around and do whatever he wants. So he goes around bouncing up on people and assaulting them and no one wants to do anything about it. Some people come Cayman and want to bring this bad gansta style don behavior dem a used to in Jamaica and Cayman police na realize or care til someone end up dead.”

By contrast, the victim has been described as a humble young man who never gets himself into any trouble.

At a recent event, he attended at another bar in George Town he was heard publicly saying that he would be walking around with his machete to “swipe them up”. There may be video footage of that as well.

Many are fearful that unchecked Famous will end up being the next person in Cayman to be charged with murder and are employing the police to take the matter extremely seriously.

We understand that Famous is a dancehall promoter and worked in a family-owned restaurant. He currently works at AL Thompson. The two men used to be co-workers.

Sunday afternoon Famous spent out on a boat cruise but acknowledged this story. In a live stream around 6:00 p.m. he paid hundreds of dollars to take control of the mic he stated that the video doesn't change anything and since the video was posted people have been telling his wife she's a fool for being with a cheater. He also noted that he will never take disrespect for no boy moving forward:
