(CMR) The Cayman Islands recorded 266 new cases of the coronavirus for the week of 20-26 March or Epidemiological Week 12, the Ministry of Health and Wellness said.
This was 59 cases more than were reported in the previous Epi. Week, the Situational Report for Epi., Week 12 which was issued by Public Health on Wednesday 30 March stated.
It also revealed that there was also one death recorded as a result of long COVID. The Cayman Islands has reported a total of 25 COVID-19 related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020.
Officials noted that 1,179 tests were conducted in Epi. Week 12, 1,253 tests in Epi. Week 11 and 1,162 tests in Epi. Week 10.
During Epi. Week 12, there were seven hospital inpatients going through the Health Services Authority in the Cayman Islands (no admissions to Health City Cayman Islands). This is approximately half of hospital inpatients from the previous week.
