(CMR) Rudolph Rambaran (39), the Jamaican prison officer who was arrested last year after he was caught smuggling ganja into Northward Prison, pleaded guilty and is expected to be sentenced in March.
Rambaran of West Bay, who was arrested on 9 June 2021 on suspicion of drug offenses, was formally charged with one count of smuggling and two counts of possession of ganja with intent to supply on 23 September 2021. In a subsequent court appearance, he entered a guilty plea and is scheduled for sentencing on 7 March 2022.
Meantime, prison officer Arnold Cabrera-Diaz (40), who was arrested at Northward Prison after he was found with 11 ounces of marijuana in his shoes, has been formally charged. He has been charged with two counts of smuggling, two counts of possession of ganja, two counts of possession of ganja with intent to supply, one count of breach of trust by a public officer, and one count of giving a false address.
Cabrera-Diaz, who was arrested on 15 July 2021 on suspicion of drug offenses, appeared in court on Tuesday, 25 January, and was granted bail pending a further appearance on 22 February.
