(CMR) Schools across the Cayman Islands have implemented several strategies which are expected to ensure the success of all students if they are required to shift to remote learning.
Director of the Department of Education Services (DES) Mark Ray said schools have developed individual education plans based on their students' specific needs and have plans in place to ensure equity in online learning. Ray was speaking in a video message to update the public on the COVID-19 safety measures in Cayman Islands government schools.
In his message, Ray outlined several measures implemented by Cayman Islands Government schools to guarantee quality education if schools or classes are required to shift to remote learning.
He also sought to clarify the Ministry of Education's decision to bring forward the mid-term breaks for government primary and secondary schools in Grand Cayman.
The DES Director further outlined several protocols that Cayman Islands Government schools have implemented to ensure students' and teachers' health and safety upon returning to school after the mid-term break and encouraged parents to discuss the importance of physical distancing and other safety measures with their children.
