“I’ve worked with the people in the Prospect community for over six years as their Community leader and there is truly a need for more women representatives in Parliament, that’s why I’ve decided to stand as a candidate in the upcoming elections.”
Sabrina Turner, Prospect Candidate
(CMR) Business owner, community leader and business talk show host Sabrina Turner has declared her intention to run for elected office in the district of Prospect in the upcoming May 2021 general election.
Turner joins two others who will be challenging incumbent Austin Harris, rounding out the field thus far to four candidates. Running as an independent, this is Turner's first time seeking elected office.
She has an active member of the Prospect community for many years and has served as the Prospect/Red Bay community leader from 2017-2019.
In that role, she assisted with the collection of household data for the area and worked on several projects to combat neighborhood crime.
Turner has a long history working in the immigration industry where she started back in 1994 as an immigration officer. Eventually leaving the department after 12 years she opened up her own immigration consulting business, which she still operates.
Turner is also a familiar voice on Radio Cayman's weekly show, the Business Buzz where she highlighted and gave small businesses the opportunity to showcase their products and services. She recently resigned in order to start preparing her campaign.
So far she is one of three women who have declared for 2021.
Sharing her love for community service and how she believes she will be able to make a difference she noted that:
“I believe in community togetherness and the voices of ALL and not a select few being heard; the people of Prospect deserve to be represented by an individual who knows the true pulse of the people and the community as a whole.”
Turner is married and has two adult sons.
