Known as “Greggy” to many he was a well respected local musician/bass guitarist and owner of HopScotch Studios, the leading recording studio in the Cayman Islands, located on North Sound Road, George Town.
Hopscotch Studios was founded and is managed by Charles “Greg” Gregory of the well-known band “Memory of Justice,” with hit records like “Jammin’ in the Park” and “Me and My Crew.”
Greg has always shared the passion of identifying young talent and providing guidance to help them through this demanding and fast-moving industry, as there was much to learn in order to be a well-rounded and internationally recognizable artist. Greg was also one of the founders of the Cayman Music and Entertainment Association.
He was also a part of the Cayman famous Memory of Justice – a reggae band, which rose to prominence in the early 1980s, topping the Caribbean charts for eight weeks with their second album.
He was also involved in the product of the Cayman Kind song.
Reports came in yesterday evening that he was found non-responsive in a building off North Sound Road. One mourner said:
“This is a significant loss to the Cayman music community, he had his hands in everything that was created on this island.”
Whilst his passing is untimely there appears to be no foul play suspected.
