(CMR) Camana Bay Cinema said due to rising costs in all areas of its operations, the cinema has made “the difficult decision to introduce a nominal fee for Premium Seating.” For an extra $2, people can select the best seating in the auditorium.
“We wanted to be transparent with you about this change, as it enables us to continue to provide the level of service and comfort that you expect and deserve. We have chosen to charge for Premium seating rather than increase the standard ticket price to ensure that the cinema remains accessible to all. Standard ticket options will continue to be available in all standard auditoriums,” Camana Bay Cinema stated in a post on social media.
Following concerns raised by members of the community, the cinema explained, “Premium or preferred seating is commonplace in many areas of our lives: airplanes, music concerts, theatres, and sports arenas all charge for what are viewed as premium or preferred seats. Cinemas in the US are also now charging for preferred seating.”
Camana Bay Cinema said standard ticket price remains in line with US movie theatres, and they will continue to keep this as low as possible.
The cinema also explained that family seating in the standard area can be accomplished in two ways: sitting in two rows of two behind each other in the standard seats or sitting in a row of four in the first three standard rows of each auditorium. Alternatively, should families wish, they can sit two persons in the standard seats and two in the premium seats and incur an average additional charge of $1 per seat.
Premium seat charges will not be applied during the Kids Club, as it is an opportunity for families to watch children’s films in the cinema at a discounted ticket price, the cinema stated.
