(CMR) Resort Manager and underwater photographer at Little Cayman Beach Resort Tiago Peixoto is alleged to have crashed his Volkwagen Beetle into the bushes after spending an evening out drinking to celebrate his departure to Dubai for a new job.
Sources reveal that Peixoto was out drinking with friends at Kingston Bight Lodge Bar in Little Cayman, where he got “plastered” and was last seen at 1:30 am Saturday morning. He was offered a ride by concerned patrons who noticed his “inebriated state,” but he refused. Not long afterward, he crashed the Volkwagen Beetle in front of Southern Cross Club on the south side.
The following morning Peixoto took a flight off the island and has since left the jurisdiction headed for his new overseas job. The vehicle he left behind was a complete write-off and is now a permanent fixture in the bushes of Little Cayman.
Tiago Peixoto has lived in Little Cayman since January 2016, and he is originally from Portugal. According to an online post, that’s where he began this journey into scuba diving and photography. Tiago started out as a marine biologist who was involved in several conservation projects in both West and East Africa before verging towards the diving and hospitality industry. Photography has been a part of his life since he was a teenager, and in 2009, he bought his first underwater photo setup.
After years of traveling around Africa, Europe, Central and South America, his journey lead him to Little Cayman, the smallest of the three Cayman Islands. He worked here as a dive instructor and boat captain for three years before being part of the inception of the Reef Divers Photo Center as a photo pro. According to his online bio he graduated from the University of Lisbon in 2008.
