(CMR) The Cayman Islands should have its first Calisthenics Park by next February after ground was broken for its construction recently at West Bay Public Beach.
In a Facebook post, Governor Martyn Roper expressed thanks to entrepreneur Philip Schlossstein who donated the funds and the Ministry of Lands team for all their work to get approval for the park.
Calisthenics is outdoor exercise using your body weight, known as a street workout. According to Healthline, the gymnastics type exercises are performed with differing levels of intensity and rhythm and allow for the development of strength, endurance, flexibility, and coordination.
“Congratulations to all involved. As we grapple with the challenges of the pandemic, regular exercise is a wonderful way to manage physical and mental health. This is a great new addition to our Islands,” Governor Roper said.
