(CMR) A six-year-old at Sir John A. Cumber Primary School took a knife to school and showed it to her Year 2 class Friday. At least one of her classmates claimed that she said that she wanted to kill someone. The Deputy Principal, L. Mendoza-Hydes, sent out correspondence to parts of the class indicating that the knife had been confiscated and appropriate action was taken against the child.
What that appropriate action was no one appears to know. However, other students were provided with access to a counselor who spoke to the children. The letter claims that despite the incident the children shared that they “felt safe at school.”
Parents have been encouraged to ensure their children are not carrying any dangerous weapons or other inappropriate items to school.
