(CMR) Four additional cases of COVID-19 disease were confirmed for the Cayman Islands today at the daily press briefing. Three of the court had connections with existing persons who have had also tested positive. One person has a known travel history.
Police Commissioner's Report
CoP Byrnes commented on the biker arrest yesterday evening.
The Commissioner clarified that water-related activities are restricted prohibited including driving, boating etc. are prohibited. However, if someone wishes to swim for exercise/leisure will be permitted but subject to the two-person public restriction.
Governor Martyn Roper
The governor addressed Queen Elizabeth II's afternoon address to the nation during these difficult times. He also indicated that he was disappointed at a fake news message that had been in circulation last evening about him and his wife. He challenged the person to reflect upon their behavior and look in the mirror and ask what their contribution to making this crisis better would have been.
Premier Alden McLaughlin
Baby shops have applied and been granted permission to be open from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
Whilst swimming is being allowed fishing is being allowed from the shoreline/dock to be taken within the 90-minute exercise allocation. In response to a question about in-house barber services on the Brac the premier indicated that “people must have a death wish.” and encourages people to not engage in such risky behavior.
Emergency services for providers like mechanics, plumbers etc. are allowed to apply to have specific employees tend to customers who require emergency services only.
Starting tomorrow adults with last names beginning with A-K can attend to grocery shopping, medical appointments and pharmacies visits on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays only.
Anyone with last names beginning with L-K is permitted to do the same on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays only. It is highly recommended to leave children at home unless it's an absolute medical emergency.
Minister Dwayne Seymour
Minister updated that the deadline for the jingles competition will be extended to April 10 and must be the time criteria of at least 90 seconds. He is pleased with the response thus far.
