(CMR) George Town Central MLA Kenneth Bryan plans to conduct a national survey on December 19th, directly outside the polling stations to gain some insight into the public's view on what he calls some critical issues facing the Cayman Islands.
In a press conference yesterday afternoon he announced the sole initiative to the media and via Facebook Live. Bryan explains that he is hopeful that he will be able to piggyback on the referendum turnout which he hopes will be significant.
His initiative is called Cayman Voice National Survey and contains 6 yes or
no questions. Bryan stated that from the onset he has tried to be a different
type of representative of the people and thinks that these topics are so
important that direct voter feedback should be sought.
Bryan considers these topics controversial and of national importance and
has never heard of any government actually polling the voters on these.
Bryan appears to be working solo thus far on this project despite recently
rejoining the opposition. However, he does admit that this is a daunting
undertaking and is asking for both donations and volunteers to man the various survey stations. He made mention of needing funds to purchase iPads to facilitate the surveying process.
He had shared that he would like to be able to include the sister islands; but to make that a reality volunteers would be needed.
Anyone who is interested in assisting can contact the MLA via Facebook or at his constituency off located off Eastern Avenue at 936-4040.
