(CMR) Dancehall entertainer Beenie Man pleaded not guilty to breaching COVID-19 protocols when he appeared in the St Elizabeth Parish Court on Wednesday.
Beenie Man, whose real name is Moses Davis, was charged for breaches of the Disaster Risk Management and Noise Abatement acts after he hosted an event in Shrewsbury district, St Elizabeth, in November.
He is scheduled to reappear in court for trial on April 19.
Jamaica's entertainment industry has been closed for months due to the coronavirus pandemic; however, there are reports of illegal parties being held.
Several stakeholders have been calling for Prime Minister Andrew Holness to reopen the industry; however, a recent spike in COVID-19 cases, which resulted in earlier curfew hours, could see an even further prolonged closure of the industry.
