(CMR) Cayman Marl Road received an email purporting to be from the official head office of China's Registry for website domains.
However, after a quick online search CMR concluded it was fake and simply deleted the message. This a strong reminder to know be fooled by emails simply because they have a authentic looking signature. Instead before replaying or clicking on anything simply do an online search.
We found the following confirmation that this is a scam:
” The fraudulent email messages should not be responded to, especially with personal or financial information. And, the instructions in the same fraudulent email messages should not be followed. Every month, thousands of these email messages are sent out by scammers to trick website owners into paying them for a fraudulent service, which the scammers claim will be used to purchase their Chinese (.CN) domain name.”
