(CMR) Cuban migrants at the CBC detention center are protesting their living conditions at the facility, demanding that they be treated better. They have complained about the sanitary condition of the facility as well as about their meals being late.
The migrants are also demanding that they be provided with personal care products such as deodorant, soap and shampoo. They say they also need items to clean and sanitize.
While some of the migrants are seeking asylum, some reportedly want to be allowed to continue their journey.
The migrants said they want a political representative who is willing to listen to their concerns as they wish to be treated humanely and not like animals.
On the Facebook page, Cubanos en Islas Caimán (Cubans in the Cayman Islands), one person said they were being subjected to dictatorship by the guards in exchange for food.
“We fled our country because we do not agree with dictatorship. Let us not subject ourselves to such atrocity. We are human beings. We are not dogs,” he wrote.
The individual further expressed that they were still grateful to the government for welcoming them to the Cayman Islands.
