(CMR) Police have released the names of three people who were killed in the fiery crash that took place on Monday, 13 May, along Shamrock Road in George Town. They are 41-year-old Shakara Stewart, 30-year-old Junior Whittaker, and 53-year-old Vinroy Grant.
All three victims were Jamaican nationals who were living and working in the Cayman Islands.
The RCIPS expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
According to the RCIPS, at about 12:15 a.m., 13 May, the 9-1-1 Communications Centre dispatched officers to a report of a collision involving five vehicles, including a black Honda Accord, a white Toyota Tundra, and a black Honda Fit, on Shamrock Road, in the vicinity of Coral Bay Village.
Officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service attended the scene and extinguished two vehicles, a Toyota Tundra and a Honda Fit, that had caught fire.
The three occupants of the Honda Fit were subsequently pronounced dead by the attending doctor. Two other persons were injured in the collision. They were transported to the Cayman Islands Hospital by ambulance for treatment for what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
