(CMR) Meals on Wheels Cayman Islands (MOW) raised just over CI$36,700 at the 2nd annual Wheels for Meals Spinning and Fitness Challenge fundraiser, which took place on Saturday, 22 June.
The event, organized in collaboration with Vital Spinbar & Yogaden, aims to raise $50k to support the goal of feeding 350 seniors for one month.
“We are very grateful to Vital for hosting another successful fundraiser for Meals On Wheels. Thanks also to our incredible team, our generous sponsors, our tireless volunteers and our benevolent participants who attended and donated to our mission of feeding hungry seniors on Grand Cayman,” said Rob Imparato, MOW Board Chairman.
Teams representing a diverse group of supporters and sponsors, including Wheaton Precious Metals, CG BritCay, Saxon, Walkers, CSC Global, Ogier, Reliable Industries, NCB Cayman, Dart, Hurley’s, Moore, the Ministry of Investment, Innovation & Social Development, Cayman’s Our Little Miss, and the Ministry of Tourism, showed their commitment to the cause by actively participating and fundraising.
Jennifer West, MOW General Manager, expressed her excitement about the event, stating, “The Wheels for Meals Spinning and Fitness Challenge was an amazing event, and we were thrilled to have participants as young as four years old who took part!”
“The team at Vital Spinbar & Yogaden made the event even bigger and better this year by offering 10 total hours of spinning, Zumba, yoga, strength training, and endless laughter,” added West.
Lauren Merren and Allie Johnson, founders of Vital Spinbar & Yogaden, expressed their appreciation for the community's support: “It was an absolute honor to host the 2nd annual Wheels for Meals at Vital!”
They said, “Meals on Wheels is an incredible organization that goes above and beyond for the community in more ways than you can imagine. 365 days a year, they feed and support our seniors through medication deliveries, home maintenance, and more. It was a fabulous day filled with fitness, sweat and downright fun to help raise money for this extra special charity close to our hearts! We owe a huge thank you to everyone who participated in classes and came out for the cause – we couldn’t have done it without you!”
Meals on Wheels extends heartfelt thanks to all participants, sponsors, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to the success of the Wheels for Meals fundraiser.
“Although short of our $50k goal, the funds raised will make a meaningful contribution to the organization's ability to continue providing essential services to seniors in need, and anyone who wishes to make a donation can still do so,” West said.
