(CMR) A TikTok video has been going viral of a woman claiming to have “moved out of her country to an island in the Caribbean” after having a manic episode and joining the army. It appears that she is in quarantine.
Whilst @katieconnellyy does not mention the island many locals have assumed it is the Cayman Islands because she is in a beachfront condo with a framed map of Grand Cayman displayed on the well in the background.
Astute viewers also noticed that she is wearing a wristband very similar to the iMSafe geo-tracking devices that the local authorities are utilizing for people in quarantine.
No one can verify the authenticity of her story but she seemingly makes fun of Cayman by sharing “it's one of those islands you have to zoom in really close to see it.” She makes it sound incredibly easy sharing that she “booked a flight, got a condo and now I live in a tiny island.”
In a second video, she stammers through sharing that she had to enlist in the army.
Whilst there's no indication of where she is from one person noted that they sent her a DM and she told them that she was staying with her father. CMR research found that she is likely from Ontario, Canada.
The peculiar video has left most people wondering how she managed to arrive in Cayman under what appears to be very last-minute conditions. However, people should be reminded that our current re-entry options including people related to residents and others living on the island.
The concerns come on the heel of recent revelations that a Canadian couple was approved to come to Cayman for 14 days and breached their quarantine restrictions at least 15 times at Regal Beach.
Her TikTok account has since been deleted but it appears that Katie had a number of followers with 151.9k fans and 2.4M likes.
