(CMR) The residents of the Waltham Park community in Kingston, Jamaica are protesting today after an alleged altercation with police that left one man dead. Police brutality has been a main topic of discussion particularly in the United States over the last few weeks where protests have been ongoing.
Jamaica's Constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) indicated to media that they were making inquiries in the area when they came under fire and during the gunfire exchange at the intersection of Waltham Park Road and Hagley Park Road the man was shot and killed.
However, residents are disputing this official statement and allegedly the man was gunned down in cold blood. The incident has led to community protests and riots with residents blocking the roadway and setting vehicles on fire.
This is a developing story and will be updated once more information is available.
