(CMR) According to the Johns Hopkins University tally, the United States on Wednesday (July 8) surpassed the three million mark in confirmed coronavirus cases.
The university tracker revealed that the US has 3,016,515 COVID-19 cases and has recorded 131,666 deaths, the most, so far, confirmed by any nation.
What's more, is that labs in the US are reporting serious shortages of both testing materials and staff.
One of the nation's top labs on Wednesday said that they do not have enough workers to process the tests, leading to severe backups.
The US recorded its first case of the coronavirus on January 21. Less than two months later, the country announced it had recorded one million infections.
