(CMR) The family of Charlene Barnes (25) is pleading for the public's assistance in locating her after she's been missing for eight days.
Reports are that Barnes left her West Bay home on Wednesday evening, December 18 to travel to George Town and has not been heard from since. An overseas family received a video call from her that evening but since then there has been no communication with her. The last person who reported having seen her was the father of her children. She indicated to him that she was going to meet a friend by the name of “Sherelle”.
Barnes does not drive and would have relied on public transportation to go to town. She has never gone missing for this length of time before and has always stayed in contact with family members previously if she was away from home for a few days.
Family members are extremely concerned about her whereabouts and are asking anyone who has seen her to immediately contact the authorities. Her mother is particular distraught that she has gone missing over the holidays and missed spending Christmas with her three children and family. Barnes has three young children all under the age of seven years of age including an infant who is under one.
There was a possible sighting of Barnes by Billie's Bicycle Shop on School Road in George Town.
UPDATE: Barnes made contact with her family after the publication of this article indicated that she was ok. However, concerned citizens have indicated that she was seen “hanging out” at a known drug house in George Town off School Road. One resident shared:
“The girl Barnes I think I that was her I saw by XX place also on Tuesday afternoon when I was going to Uncle Clems she was standing in his door was looking out and Sandy I know that yard very well because of my past only how you go in his house is if you're using cocaine or getting fucked by XX or XX. That is a known drug house in George Town.”
