(CMR) The Cayman Islands Government had decided to close all public schools today at 12 noon. Buses will be leaving promptly at that time. All students must be collected by 12:15 pm.
There will be no school on Friday, August 27.
As of 10 am today, the Cayman Islands are under a Tropical Storm Warning. Consequently, the public is advised that non-essential Government Offices will close at 12:30 today Thursday 26th August to allow staff to prepare for the system. The public is encouraged to continue to monitor official channels for updates on the reopening times for non-essential government offices.
Civil Servants who provide essential/emergency services are required to attend work as scheduled unless directed otherwise by their Head of Department.
The Water Authority has also indicated they will be closed from 3.00 pm today until the Tropical Storm’s “All Clear” is issued sometime tomorrow.
The public is advised that the Needs Assessment Unit offices in Grand Cayman (55 South Church Street) and Cayman Brac (23 Dennis Foster Road, Stake Bay) will close to clients on Thursday 26 August at 12:30. The staff of the Needs Assessment Unit will continue to work remotely. The Unit’s offices will re-open to clients on Monday 30 August pending the effects of the incoming tropical depression – please monitor communication channels.
