(CMR) Police are investigating a serious collision that took place on Shamrock Road on Sunday, leaving two people hospitalized, one with life-threatening injuries.

Reports are that just after 10:20 PM yesterday, 22 May, police and other emergency services were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communication Centre to a report of a motor vehicle collision that took place on Shamrock Road in the vicinity of Spotts Newlands Road, Bodden Town.

The collision involved a white Hyundai minivan containing one occupant and a blue Ford truck with three occupants. The driver of the Hyundai was extricated from the vehicle by officers from the Cayman Islands Fire Service. All four persons involved were transported to the hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Hyundai and the rear seat passenger of the Ford Sports Trac remain in the hospital at this time. The rear seat passenger is believed to have sustained serious and life-threatening injuries, while the driver of the Hyundai is believed to have serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Ford truck and the front seat passenger were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the police, and investigators are encouraging anyone with information to call the Traffic and Roads Policing Unit at 946-6254 or 949-4222.

Alternatively, tips may be submitted through the RCIPS' Confidential Tip Line at 947-7777 or on their website. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through Cayman Crime Stoppers online.
