(CMR) Tropical storm Isaias has been upgraded to hurricane status, it is the second named storm of the 2020 hurricane season.
According to the Miami-based National Hurricane Center ‘s 11:00 a.m. update, Isaias has sustained winds of 75 mph and has brought heavy rains and winds across the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
The category 1 hurricane is now headed towards the Bahamas and Florida.
Hurricane warnings are now in effect for the Bahamas and Florida.
The NHC said hurricane conditions and dangerous storm surges are expected in portions of the Bahamas, while Florida is expected to be impacted on the weekend.
“Isaias is forecast to be near the central Bahamas Friday night and move near or over the northwest Bahamas and near south Florida on Saturday,” said the NHC in its advisory
