(CMR) There was a near-drowning of a toddler on Saturday afternoon at the Westin Hotel pool. Police have since confirmed that on Saturday 28 August, Officers responded to a report at the Westin of a child drowning. On arriving at the location, Medic units were attending to the 2-year-old child who had gained consciousness. The child was taken to the hospital to be monitored.
CMR understands that both parents were poolside socializing when the father realized that the child was floating in the pool. She was promptly pulled out of the water by another adult and her father promptly performed CPR until the ambulance arrived. Sources indicate the mother was there with her six-week-old baby as well.
An eyewitness shared “we lost sight of this child for about fifteen seconds and she jumped in the pool because she had been doing that earlier with her life jacket on.” Apparently, her life jacket had been taken off as they were preparing to return to the hotel.
Eyewitnesses shared that the child “was blue when taken out of the water” but everyone is thankful that she had made a full recovery and will be fine.
