(CMR) Golfer Tiger Woods is undergoing several surgeries for multiple leg injuries after crashing his car early Tuesday morning while on his way to LA golf course to film for Golf TV.
Woods (45) suffered a compound fracture and shattered ankle after crashing the Genesis GV80 he had been reportedly given for the week.
Reports are that the car rolled multiple times, and Woods had to be pried from the wreckage by firefighters using jaws of life.
Investigators have found that the car was traveling at high speed before the crash.
The golfer who lives in Florida was in Los Angeles to host the PGA Genesis Invitational over the weekend. Woods stayed in California to film with stars Jada Pinkett Smith, David Spade, and Dwyane Wade for GolfTV.
Genesis had reportedly loaned him the car to use while he was in Los Angeles.
The PGA Tour said in a statement, “We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery. On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers.”
Woods is considered one of the greatest golfers in the sport's history. His 82 tournament wins are the most in a career tied with Sam Snead, and his 15 major titles are second only to Jack Nicklaus.
