(CMR) The Turks and Caicos Islands will hold a general election on February 19, 2021.
Premier Sharlene Cartwright Robinson announced the date during a political rally held by the People’s Democratic Movement (PDM) in Grand Turk last weekend. She said Nomination Day would be on January 29.
Elections were last held in this British Overseas Territory on December 15, 2016, when the People's Democratic Movement (PDM) won a 10-5 victory over the Progressive National Party (PNP). Cartwright- Robinson became the country’s first female leader then.
The premier told supporters, “Our best years are still ahead of us. It is time for you to restore this faith that you have shown, we shall ride the storm and conquer the pandemic. I stand here tonight, unafraid, undoubted…I come to you as a daughter and a sister, a mother, and an aunt, and because of what you have made me —a leader.”
