(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) are searching for the driver of a white Honda Civic, who fled the vehicle following a police search.
Reports are that just before 2:30 AM on Thursday, officers arrived at a gas station off Walkers Road in George Town, where there was said to be an incident which resulted in damage to the property.
Upon the arrival of the RCIPS officer, some of the individuals involved in the incident left the location in a white Honda Civic.
RCIPS officers tracked down the vehicle, which was subsequently searched and a loaded magazine was recovered. While the vehicle was being searched, the driver fled the location on foot.
Two passengers in the vehicle, a 23-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman both of George Town addresses, were arrested on suspicion of possession of an unlicensed firearm and damage to property.
The duo remains in police custody. During a forensic examination, a handgun was also recovered.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward and anyone with information is encouraged to call George Town Police Station.
