(CMR) Some Twitter staff members may never venture into the office again, that’s according to the company’s CEO Jack Dorsey.
However, those with roles that require a physical presence, such as maintaining servers would still need to report to the office.
Dorsey made the revelation in a letter to employees on Tuesday (May 12) stating that employees will be allowed to work from home even after the coronavirus pandemic passes.
He further noted that it was unlikely the company would reopen offices or allow most business travel until September, with in-person events cancelled for 2020.
A company spokesperson said that Twitter was uniquely positioned to allow such working arrangements.
“We were uniquely positioned to respond quickly and allow folks to work from home given our emphasis on decentralization and supporting a distributed workforce capable of working from anywhere,” a Twitter spokesperson said.
The tech company also used the occasion to share that it would be increasing its allowance for work from home supplies to $1,000 for all employees.
