(CMR) 86 female divers linked hands and attempted to set a new world record this weekend to commensurate Women's Dive Day 2018 at Lighthouse Point.
The event took place this past Saturday and was organized by local company DiveTech. They also raised over US$3,000 for breast cancer research. They posted on their Facebook wall:
“the day shone a light on the growing power of women in the world of scuba diving.”
DiveTech anticipates it may have its record attempt ratified by Diving Almanac by the end of the week. It expects it could take much longer to hear from the Guinness book.
We do understand that a group in Hawaii may be attempting to set their own record shortly and the numbers could have even higher locally but there was a shortage of available diving tanks.
