(CMR) Questions are circulating on social media about the whereabouts of hair stylist Skyler Warren AKA “The Hair Doctor” from So Sexy Beauty Lounge at The Solutions Centre in George Town after a mysterious disappearing act.
The questions are coming after he made an announcement via the salon's IG page that the salon was under “new management.” Exclusive CMR sources also confirm that he is no longer in the Cayman Islands after leaving the jurisdiction yesterday. All phone numbers posted for him and the salon do not appear to be operational at this time. We understand that his personal IG account was closed and he has control over the social media accounts for the business.
Those close to him have told CMR anonymously that they have been trying to reach him with no success and were surprised to learn from us that he had left the jurisdiction.
Originally from NYC, Warren was well liked and extremely talented as a hair stylist according to many clients. Warren was part owner of the business and operated as the face of the salon – often doing the marketing for new clients.
At this point there is lot of speculation about the finances of the business after he left with no notice.
CMR received additional information that there was some discord in the salon due to the Jamaican nail tech, Tiann Lewis, bringing his brother into the business. Someone noted that this nail tech
“basically Lewis ran the salon with Skyler but behaved as if he was the owner. He hired his brother to do pedicures and another Jamaican nail tech. Once the brother came on board the salon started to become very ghetto. The Jamaicans dressed inappropriately and played music videos on the TV with lots of profanity.”
This source claims that numerous clients complained about the direction in which the salon was going. However, Skyler told the clients he felt helpless to do anything about it as they did not listen to him. The person noted:
“Once Lewis's brother arrived the situation quickly deteriorated and Skyler who was the non-Caymanian partner in the business no longer felt he had any control over his own staff.”
Clients also complained about the nail tech's lack of professionalism and noted that he would show up an hour late for his appointments. Turns out there was some issue with the brother's work permit which led to him leaving the business. CMR understand that the two brothers now operate a salon called Chic nails in the Cotton Club building.
It is alleged that this nail tech cancelled several work permits and kept the refund for himself. Apparently there was a staff meeting on Monday evening and the decision to close the salon was made. Apparently there were several Jamaicans working the month of December without the required work permits. The Caymanian business owner subsequently decided to cancel all work permits and his business license.
The comment made in the IG post about “Skyler bring back the workers money” is from Lewis's brother and new business partner.
Clients arrived yesterday to find the salon closed for business with no previous notice. Apparently it is alleged that Skyler did not know about this decision until the he arrived for work at 11:00 am.
One client concluded:
“Tiann Lewis is the sneaky one. The Jamaicans are trying to ruin SKYLER s reputation. They always come to Cayman and work for a Caymanian once they get some sort of status and build clientele the move and open there own business . He will never do my nails again!”
CMR reached out to Tiann Lewis before these additional details emerged but he was unwilling to comment on the matter.
Prior to operating this business Warren worked at several other local salons on island. Several clients confirmed to CMR that they saw him earlier this week and there was no indication that he would be suddenly departing.
The IG account has since been updated stating the business is closed. Despite this CMR sources indicate that a nail tech is still there and working.
