(CMR) A brazen shoplifter is being sought by local business owner and authorities for a January 8 shoplifting incident at the POLO store in Camana Bay. A reward is being offered to anyone who can assist in positively identifying him.
Described as a male in his early 30s he went into the POLO Ralph Lauren store in Camana Bay around 8:32 p.m. on Monday January 8. He then entered the changing room where he stole two polo shirts. Apparently, he placed the shirts under his own black shirt and exited the business without paying for them.
He is described as being medium build with a beard and wearing a BREES 9 shirt with white shorts and black flip flops.
In what appears to be a deliberate and well planned out theft; the man attempted to distract staff with numerous questions and entered the store shortly before closing time.
Business owner, Nicola de Lima Maloir, was very disappointed that this man took advantage of her staff and the store. She stated:
This is so infuriating as I have so many wonderful customers who spend their hard earned money with us and this guy feels entitled. This breaks my heart.
Noting how difficult it was to see this happen because she is well aware of her many customers who make the necessary sacrifices to be honest and do things the proper way she shared:
Many many customers save up, put on layaway for months until they can come up with the money and this guy comes in here with the intent of taking what does not belong to him.
de Lima Maloir has been in business since 2005 and has never experienced anything quite like this. He was able to confuse staff, creating a chaotic atmosphere and bypass their security training in order to make his quick exit.
Both the police and Camana Bay security have been circulating video footage of the suspect and anyone with information should contact the police immediately.
