(CMR) The National Hurricane Center in Miami Florida is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Zeta and the Cayman Islands are under a severe weather bulletin with the flood warning to remain in effect until Monday evening. A small craft warning is also in effect for the Cayman Islands.
At 4 p.m. Zeta was located about 171 miles WSW of Grand Cayman. Zeta is currently stationary but is expected to slowly drift towards the north northwest over the next 3 to 5 days, taking the system further away from the Cayman Islands.
Expected weather conditions for the Cayman Islands:
Cloudy to overcast skies with rain and intermittent thunderstorms. Showers may become locally heavy at times leading to possible flooding of low lying areas.
A FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR THE CAYMAN ISLANDS.
Estimated Rainfall Amount per Day:
(That is, 0.5 to 1 inch per day, with a possible max of 2 inches per day)
Sunday: 5 to 7 feet with an additional 2 to 4 feet swells along the W coast of Grand Cayman.
Monday: 4 to 6 feet with an additional 2 to 4 feet swells along the W coast of Grand Cayman.
THE SMALL CRAFT WARNING IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN IN EFFECT UNTIL MONDAY AFTERNOON
