(CMR) As of Tuesday, 97 percent of persons over 60 years old had already taken at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Persons in the 50 to 59 age group also had a high percentage of persons receiving at least the first dose with 96 percent.
As of Tuesday, there have been 105,699 COVID-19 vaccinations given in total in the Cayman Islands. Of these, 54,796 (77% of 71,106) have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and 50,901 (72%) have completed the two-dose course. Two people (0%) have had a third or booster dose.
As of 8 am Wednesday 22 September, the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. John Lee reports that there have been 865 PCR tests since the last report was issued on Tuesday morning. Of these, there are four positive tests in travelers.
As of Tuesday, 21 September, the break down by age groups for first doses is as follows (where distribution is 50% female across the whole group):
- 12 – 17 73%
- 18 – 29 81%
- 30 – 39 87%
- 40 – 49 93%
- 50 – 59 96%
- 60+ 97%
“We know there is a lot of interest from the public about receiving a booster dose. However, this program is not yet open to the public in general. The HSA will make an announcement in due course,” said the Chief Medical Officer.
