(CMR) Hermine Stoney (65) of George Town pleaded guilty early this week as her five-day judge-alone trial was to begin to defrauding the Needs Assessment Unit (NAU).
Stoney was originally arrested in 2018 and charged fraudulently obtaining some $37,345.56 from the Department of Children and Family Services by deception between February 2014 and April 2017. It was alleged that she was dishonest on her NAU forms when she neglected to inform NAU that she had sold a property and had significantly more profits than she let on. On her forms, she stated that she only had a monthly income of $250.00.
Stoney was a long servicing member at Caribbean Utilities Company for over 10-years and also obtained her insurance license in 2011 and worked for Sagicor Life of the Cayman Islands.
