(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) has charged a second man in relation to a drug bust on Spotts Beach on Shamrock Road last May.
A 50-year-old-man of George Town will answer to six charges when he appears in court on Tuesday, March 2.
The charges being presented to the court in relation to the matter include 2 counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, being concerned in the importation of ganja, being concerned in the possession of ganja with the intent to supply, and knowingly assisting an illegal landing.
A Jamaican national was taken into custody after police officers spotted a canoe in the Spotts Beach area last May. Several packages were located and seized by police, who searched the area. The packages contained suspected ganja and two handguns, along with live rounds of ammunition.
The Jamaican national arrested in relation to the incident was formally charged with 2 counts of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of an unlicensed firearm (ammunition), being concerned in the importation of ganja, being concerned in the supply of ganja, and landing in the Cayman Islands without specific permission by an Officer.
