(CMR) A stolen scooter alert has been issued by a concerned owner after hers was stolen over the weekend in the vicinity of Smith Cove in the South Sound area.
The scooter was chained up and locked when someone helped themselves to it late Saturday night or early Sunday morning. The public is being asked to keep their eye out for it in the event that it may be used by the culprits. It is described as a blue Yamaha Cygnus. The license plate number is 165 193 and it has a box on the back of the unit.
On Sunday morning we were contacted by another concerned citizen who mentioned that there had been a recent increase in the number of bicycles and scooters stolen in recent time. They mentioned that there were several attempts to steal them over the weekend in several areas of West Bay including the Batabano and Foster Bay Villas areas. In one instance the owner found the cables had been cut that secured the bike.
Another scooter was found close to the dumpster in Smith's Cove parking lot where the thieves had set it on fire early Sunday morning.
