(CMR) A 500-page compilation book of essays in honor of J.A. Roy Bodden will be launched on Tuesday evening at the Sir Vassel Johnson Hall at the University College of the Cayman Islands at 6:00 pm.
Professor of Constitution Governance and Politics at The University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados, Dr. Cynthia Barrow-Giles, will be the guest speaker at the book launch event.
The essays and papers are a collection of what was presented at the JA Roy Bodden: Public Intellectual Interrogating the Caymanian Society Symposium that was held almost a year ago. That two-day event included “an impressive group of Cayman-based and international intellectuals, scholars and thought leaders who wrote critically about issues” in the various works published by Bodden.
Out of that symposium this compilation text titled The Cayman Islands: History, Politics, and Society (Essays in Honour of JA Roy Bodden) has been published.
Three hundred copies of this book have been published by the Ian Randle Publishers, and copies will be donated to all schools and public libraries. The Committee for the Promotion of Research and Cayman Scholarship (CPRCS) is committed to advancing Cayman scholarship as well as Cayman scholars and feels this is a fitting way to do so.
This event and text were organized by this committee. They are committed to promoting and fostering research, intellectual discourse and the elevation of debate on current and emerging issues in the Cayman Islands to a solution and facts-based level.
The event will attract a wide cross-section of contributors and others as J.A. Roy Bodden signs books. Book editors, Dr. Livingston Smith and Dr. Stephanie Fullerton-Cooper will also be in attendance with the publisher, Ian Randle and various contributors. Books can be purchased at the event for $25. Attendees can RSVP to 345-916-6462.
