(CMR) The Cayman Chess Club reported a record turnout for its tournament on Saturday, with 44 players participating.
The event held at the George Town Public Library had a special Queens (Lady Beginners) section for the first time.
Winners of the day included Shivank, Lia, and Thomas in Beginners; Laia, Mel, Daniel, and Robert in Intermediate; Sinead, Alanna, Kelly, and Coralie in Queen; and Kuda, Enfield, Daniel, and Gilbert in Open.
The Chess Club had high praises for Laia, the leading junior player, who won the intermediate section with 4.5/5.
