(CMR) The Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS) continues to make recovery and destruction of drugs coming into the Cayman Islands a priority.
They stated today another weekend operation netted about CI $216,000 worth of cocaine. Officers from the Air Operations Unit, while conducting border patrols along the coastline of North Side, spotted a suspicious package at the water’s edge. The helicopter hovered and a crew member deplaned to retrieve the package, which was later confirmed to contain several packets of cocaine.
According to the RCIPS, the estimated weight of all the packages was 18 kilograms, with markings on the packages suggest that they were being trafficked internationally.
The police further said that the packages were destroyed on March 6.
