A former senior officer of the Royal Bank of Canada in Bermuda, Guernsey and the Cayman Islands is suing the group for unfair dismissal, breach of contract, and misrepresentation. Brian Taylor is seeking damages totaling more than US$3 million.
Brian Taylor filed a complaint against Cayman-domiciled Royal Bank of Canada Trust Company (Cayman) Ltd., Guernsey-domiciled Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Ltd., and Canada-domiciled Royal Bank of Canada at the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands on April 13th
Taylor worked for RBC in Guernsey from 1985 to 1996, Bermuda from 1996 to 2002 and Cayman from 2002 to 2014, “when his employment as Head of Trust Management Caribbean was terminated on notice but without cause”, according to the statement of claim.
Taylor's termination was preceded by a dispute over pension benefits, it was claimed.
